Fighting tenants on token bail

TWO tenants of 39 Old Road, Craig, East Bank Demerara, were on Monday released on $10,000 bail each by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan after a simple argument turned violent.Fifty-three-year-old Carlton Henry was charged for unlawfully and maliciously wounding Shane Picot earlier this month at their East Bank Demerara residence. The machine operator denied the charge after the Administration of Justice Act (AJA) was applied.
Picot was also charged with unlawfully assaulting Henry.
The 34-year-old denied the charge also.
According to the facts, the men reside at the Craig Home, which is a two-storeyed building.
On the day in question, an argument ensued between them, and quickly escalated into a fight. The result was that Picot received cuts to his left hand, while Henry suffered a deep laceration to his right eye.
The Chief Magistrate granted bail after the prosecutor made no objections. The matter was transferred to Providence Magistrate Court for January 14.
