THE Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) will on Saturday bring the curtain down on activity for 2015 with the hosting on the DDL Pepsi Under-16 tournament. The Andrew `Six Head’ Lewis Gym in Albouystown is the venue for the competition that will see gyms from across Guyana participate.

During the course of this year the GABA named the Under-16 competition after Guyana’s lone Olympic medallist Michael Parris. The competition is known as the DDL Pepsi Michael Parris Under-16 tournament.
Parris won a bronze medal at the Moscow Olympic in 1980. Saturday’s event will see clubs from Berbice, Linden, Georgetown and Essequibo battle for honours with over 40 boxers participating.
Expected back in the hunt for medals is the Pocket Rocket Gym which has recently shifted from New Amsterdam to Linden. Head coach Orland Rogers has been hard at work and only last Saturday organised a competition in the mining town.
The Demerara Distillers Limited has been the proud sponsor of nursery competition for the past four years.
