Ming participated in the first official round of the Latin American competition which took place last weekend (December 5-6 at the Autódromo Internacional Miguel E. Abed in Amozoc, Puebla, Mexico.
He qualified on 11th out of 19 competitors on Saturday after a tough bout but had managed to move up to 7th in that race with the lead bunch after some excellent driving but with approximately 10 minutes out of the scheduled 35 minutes of racing remaining; the gearbox got stuck in 2nd gear, forcing Ming out of that race.
According to the engineers, the problem was caused due to a defective air compressor.
This meant that he had to start from the back in race number two on Sunday (17th position after two cars crashed during the first race on Saturday.)
With nothing to lose, the young Ming, who drove from the back of the pack, and managed to finish 9th while in race three, started in 11th and managed to finish 7th.
Due to this performance, he was awarded the prize for the best rookie.

Each of the 7 rounds of the Mexican F4 championship series is made up of 3×35 mins with races held on both Saturday and Sunday.
