– Sparta Boss, North Ruimveldt and Back Circle also advance

North Ruimveldt, Back Circle, Channel-9 Warriors and Sparta Boss qualified for the Georgetown leg semi-final round of the Guinness Greatest In Da Street Futsal Competition on Friday night at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac.Bent Street lost in the first quarterfinal match to North Ruimveldt 2 – 1 on penalty kicks after the two sides were deadlocked at 1 – 1 after regulation and extra time. They battled to a goalless first half then Sheldon Profit (29th) drew first blood for Bent Street in the 29th minute.
However, North Ruimveldt responded immediately with the game still in the 29th minute through a Linris Carrington strike. The scores remained level until the match went to penalties.
Back Cirle then stormed into the semis with a 3 – 0 win over East Front Road. Once again Andy Duke led the way with a double as he scored in the third and seventh minutes. Vincent Thomas made it a three possession game when he struck in the 23rd minute while East Front Road had no answer.
West Front Road’s unbeaten run was interrupted with a painstaking 1 – 0 loss to Channel-9 Warriors. Neither side was able to exploit an opening and take the lead until the 37th minute when Kevin Barrow found the back of the net. That goal amplified Channel-9’s confidence to keep West Front Road at bay until the final whistle sounded.
Sparta Boss was the last to qualify for the semis with a 2 – 0 trouncing on North East La Penitence. Sheldon Shepherd was once again among the scorers scoring in the 29th minute while Devon Millington accounted for the other Sparta goal in the 40th minute.
