Assistant Superintendent Deneshwar Mahendranauth was today granted bail on a charge of sexual assault.It is being alleged that Mahendranauth summoned a junior officer to his quarters and made sexual advances towards her at Lethem some two months ago.
The young Policewoman resisted and later reported the matter to a family member who is also an assistant superintendent of the Guyana Police Force. After pleading not guilty to the charge before City Magistrate Judy Latchman, Mahendranauth was placed on $100,000 bail and his matter was adjourned to December 10.
