Salvation Army to launch Annual Christmas Kettles Appeal – at GSL

THE Salvation Army will tomorrow launch its traditional Christmas Kettles Appeal on the lawns of the Guyana Stores Limited on Church Street, Georgetown.

Proceedings begin at 10:00 hrs, and the Army has said that His Excellency President David Arthur Ganger has been invited to be the Special Guest and to formally launch the Appeal.

A Christmas Message will be delivered by Chairman of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, Mr. Edward Boyer, and the programme will be richly spiced with the singing of Christmas Carols, led by Divisional Director of Women’s Ministries, Major Caroline Cumberbatch; special musical renditions by the Police Steel Band and the Divisional Band; and dance sequences by the Divisional Youth Timbrel Brigade, among other items.

Immediately following the launch, Christmas Kettles will be placed at strategic points in the city, and the Salvation Army urges that members of the public generously donate to a most worthy cause.

In keeping with the Salvation Army’s mantra: “Sharing is Caring”, funds raised will help to extend The Army’s assistance to the less fortunate in society this Christmas and beyond. (Shirley Thomas)
