Goodluck holds three-point lead over Braithwaite

FORMER national champion Ransford Goodluck is on course for championship honours this Sunday when the curtain comes down on the National Rifle Shooting championships at the Timehri rifle ranges.The veteran marksman holds a three-point lead over defending champion Lennox Braithwaite going into the final day of competition.
Goodluck has so far recorded 248 points with 19 V-bulls to lead Braithwaite who has recorded 245 points with 20 V-bulls while national vice captain Dylan Fields is currently in third with a grand total 242 with 13 V-bulls.
Sunday’s second day action saw Goodluck amassing 114 points with eight Vs following shooting at the 500, 600 and 1000 yards ranges. He shot 33.1 at 500, a possible 35.2 at 600 and 48.4 at 1000 yards range.
Fields came in second on day two with 115 points and 7 Vs with possible at 500 and 600 yards (35.1, 35.4) and 45.2 at 1000 yards.
Peter Persaud had scores of 30.0, 31-2 and 45.2 for a day’s tally of 106.4 and a grand aggregate of 227.8 while Lt. Col. (Retired) Terrance Stuart recorded 87.1 with scores of 28.0, 21,0 and 38.1 for an overall aggregate of 210 points with six Vs.
Ryan Sampson who did not compete on day two remains on 124 points with eight Vs.
Goodluck was also at the top of the leader board on the opening day and held a slim one point lead over Braithwaite while Fields was placed in the third position.
Robert Tewari and Gordon Richards who are competing in the Tryo Class (Beginners) shot only two ranges. Tewari recorded 70 points with two Vs while Richards secured 64 with one V. The championships continue on Sunday starting at 10:00hrs.
