THE Miss Guyana Universe 2015 Pageant was officially launched in the Princess Hotel’s Conference Room on Sunday evening last with a simple but striking ceremony, wherein the nine stunning delegates were, for the first time, declared and introduced to the public by host, radio personality Felize Robertson.Addressing the sizeable gathering of special invitees, franchise holder Odinga Lamumba thanked the sponsors for supporting the event. He was particularly grateful to management of the Princess Hotel for making the facility available for the occasion.

Announcing that the actual pageant will be staged at the same venue on November 15, 2015, Lumumba informed that the eventual local queen will represent Guyana in Las Vegas on December 20, 2015, where she will be competing against 94 other delegates from around the globe.

He added that before pageant night, the nine beauties will participate in a televised Intelligence Competition at which they will be interviewed by an individual to be named. During his presentation, he called on Corporate Guyana to be supportive of the event, since some of the delegates are still without sponsors.

He also indicated that, this year around, the calibre of contestants is much better than what had obtained last year, and he said Guyana has a better opportunity of placing at the international leg of the pageant.

After Mr. Lumumba’s address, each delegate introduced herself to the audience, and mingled with the media and patrons with the hope of securing much-needed sponsorship.

Those competing for the coveted title this year are Shauna Ramdian, Zeena Bland, Najuma Nelson, Babita Seelall, Malika Russel, Tricia Quail, Diana Hamad, Kiswana Jefford and Melissa Defreitas.
