WITH one of the largest Group 2 grids expected at the Guyana leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championships (CMRC) 2014, Guyanese driver Shan Seejattan has confirmed that the locals will be looking more at retaining the country championships, than individual glorySpeaking to Chronicle Sport yesterday, the Group 2 driver indicated that he will be ready to race, come November 14-15, and intends to fly the Guyana flag high.
Sending a message to the touring contingent, which includes some 9 cars from Trinidad and 6 cars from Barbados, Seejattan said, “I don’t want to make personal threats that I can’t fulfil but it’s gonna be game on!”
“We gotta stick together, it’s basically country points that we are after. It’s nothing personal for us Guyanese guys; all of us are trying to work together,” continued the Group 2 driver.
On the personal front, he noted that gym work has been progressing well as he continues work on his fitness, noting that his car is currently in pieces.
“We are currently doing some work to it (the car) right now in terms of handling and suspension and stuff like that. We are also doing some quick reviews of the engine and things like that, and we are basically getting the car back together,” said Seejattan.
Currently, Guyana sit in third place in the Caribbean country Championships with 511 points, being led by Trinidad and Tobago, (658 points) and Barbados (533)
Guyana are the defending country champions and will look to retain that title on the November 14-15 race weekend.
