Fraud charge dismissed

A CHARGE of fraudulent conversion against an information technology technician was on Wednesday dismissed by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan when the technician appeared before her charged with fraudulently converting his customer’s electronic item to his own use and benefit.Twenty-four –year-old Samuel Springer of 32 West La Penitence was not required to plead to the indictable charge which read that between May 1 and May 27, 2015 at Alberttown while being solely entrusted with one HP laptop valued at $45,000 and an iPhone valued at $275,000, property of Jose Bristol, he fraudulently converted the same to his own use and benefit.
When the Administration of Justice Act was applied, the accused denied the allegation. It was revealed that the complainant was a customer of the accused and didn’t want to proceed with the matter.
The magistrate granted the application and dismissed the charge after ordering the accused to pay a fine of $5,000.
