Johnny Welshman on fraud charge

JOHNNY Welshman who is also known as Johnny William-Luchart of Lot 2519 Layou Street, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was placed on $25,000 bail after pleading not guilty to charge for obtaining money by false presence.  Twenty-three-year-old Welchman, made his appearance before Magistrate Dylon Bess yesterday to the charges which stated on October 21 at Georgetown, he obtained $40,000 from Alicia Fernandez by pretending to be a lawyer, knowing same to be fabricated.

Prosecution facts, mentioned that Fernandez had a problem with her mother who has custody of her children. This matter had an altercation with the welfare who advised Fernandez to seek an Attorney-at-Law, so that she can have full custody of her children.
The facts presented to the court did not state as to how Fernandez made contact with the defendant, who told her that he was a competent lawyer to take care of the custody process.
She found out that he was not a lawyer, the matter was reported to the police and he was arrested.
The defendant was unrepresented in court and is expected to make his next court appearance, on December 29.
