SM JALEEL & Company Ltd, through its Busta brand, has renewed its sponsorship for the 12th edition of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) Champion of Champions cricket tournament. Expected to commence on Saturday November 14, the Busta Champion of Champions Berbice Edition will feature eight teams in the Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets, Young Warriors, Tucber Park, West Berbice, Police, Upper Corentyne and Blairmont with one other senior team expected to confirm their participation shortly.
The 40-over tournament will use the white ball for all matches and the winner would take home $100 000 and the beautiful Busta Trophy while the second-place team will collect 50 000.
Speaking during yesterday’s launch, Secretary/Chief Executive Officer Hilbert Foster indicated his pleasure at once again securing the sponsorship of Busta, adding, “From a humble birth, Champion of Champions has grown into one of Guyana’s leading cricket competition and certainly one of the best organised and promoted ones.”
He said that the RHTY&SC will of course be looking to provide the best possible atmosphere for cricket and its development and thanked the General Manager Robert Selman and the staff for their 12 years of sustained sponsorship.
Selman, making brief remarks said, “Words cannot express the manner in which they carry out this tournament. When I look at other competitions, I see a lot of them ending up in dispute and fight. I have never had a serious incident. They have kept up the good name of our company.”
He indicated that he continues to feel heartened to sponsor tournaments like the Champion of Champions, noting too that he has seen evidence of proper and accountable spending as it relates to his hard-earned money.
