TEAM Coco’s Raynauth `Obeahman’ Jeffrey won his second race yesterday in as many days leading up to the much-anticipated `Tour of Guyana’ Five-Stage cycle road race billed for this month-end and which is expected to attract a number of international riders.Yesterday, Jeffrey, who is based in the United States and has just completed a two-week high altitude training programme in Colombia, registered a time of three hours 12 minutes 28.35 seconds in narrowly winning the 4th Annual Mohamed Kadir Memorial 80-mile’Ounce of Gold’ cycle event ahead of Alanzo Greaves.
In the process of winning the event, Jeffrey was rewarded with one ounce of raw gold along with a trophy and four of the eight prime prizes that were up for grabs.
Jeffrey narrowly edged Alanzo Greaves by one cycle length while Raul Leal, Andrew Hicks, Hamza Eastman, Michael Anthony, Jamaul John and Orville Hinds occupied the other top places in the Open category.
Berbician rider Hicks was the first junior rider to cross the finish line in his category while Jamaul John placed second and Raphael Leung finished third.
The veterans’ Under-45 age category was won by Horrace Burrowes, followed by Raymond Newton and third was Ralph Williams.
Ian `Dumb Boy’ Jackson won the veterans’ Over-45 years category ahead of Shameer Baksh and Kennard Lovell respectively.
