Joseph wins Lucozade Handicap Squash Tournament again

WHEN the Guyana Squash Association (GSA) Lucozade Handicap Tournament continued on Wednesday at the Georgetown Club Squash Courts, National Champion Nyron Joseph defeated Anthony Islam in the night’s most interesting encounter. Joseph, one of the Caribbean’s top squash players, won the game 2-2 (10-15, 16-14, 15-12) in a marathon effort after starting from a handicap of -20.

Needing to recover from a first-set loss to the junior player (Joseph), the diminutive Islam fought determinedly to almost complete a win in the second set, but eventually the experience and form of Joseph proved too tall a task.
Meanwhile, in another exciting contest, the skilful Reagan Pollard, starting from a handicap of -14, defeated Lloyd Fung-a-Fat 2-0 (15-12, 16-14).
