John Niles, on the other hand, won the BMX boys 6-9 years one-lap event.
Team Coco’s Junior Niles returned one hour 18 minutes 22.17 seconds in winning the feature event ahead of Team Gillette Evolution’s Akeem Wilkinson, Shaquille Agard, Jamaul John, Paul DeNobrega and Robin Persaud respectively.
John won seven of the eight prime prizes that were up for grabs while Wilkinson won the other.
From the start of the feature event, Niles in company with Wilkinson, Agard and John jumped the pack and started to open a lead which grew with the passing of each lap and as the race progressed, the lead by the quartet extended to more than 350 metres after 25 laps.
When the bell sounded for the final lap, Wilkinson held the lead, but with approximately 200 metres remaining, John jumped the pack and opened a small lead. He was followed by Wilkinson and as the four riders reached the 125 metres mark from the finish line, Niles who was at the back of the leaders surged through on the inside rounding the final turn into the homestretch and romped home an easy winner.
De Nobrega outsmarted Persaud in the homestretch to place fifth.
In other results, Toshwana Doris (girl) won the BMX boys and girls three-lap race ahead of Ronaldo Narine and Whitney Boyer respectively.
Ralph Williams finished second to Junior Niles in the five-lap race for veterans while Eion `Dumb Boy’ Jackson placed third.
Linden Blackman, the lone rider to contest the five-lap race for veterans over 50 years of age, completed the distance to win the event.
Jamaul John was the winner of the 10-lap race for juveniles. He was followed by Raphael Leung and Christopher Griffith respectively.
Ozia McAully continued his dominance of the five-lap race for mountain bikers by winning yesterday’s event ahead of Seon Budhan and Jason Herbert in that order.
Alexander Leung and Ajede Cutting placed second and third respectively to John Niles in the BMX boys 6-9 years old.
Prior to the presentation to the respective winners, race organiser Hassan Mohamed thanked all the participants for being a part of the activity, stating that regardless of who won or lost they are all winners, since without them, there would not have been a race programme. He also showered praise on DeSinco Trading Managing Director Frank DeAbreu who has over the past 15 years supported his cycle programme.
Mohamed noted that DeAbreu is a lover of sports and assists various sports associations and organisers. He thanked the company for their continued support for his many programmes.
