LAST Friday, Safraz Ganni, the star witness in an attempted murder trial told Madame Justice Jo-Ann Barlow the trial judge and a mixed jury about the night he was attacked by Deon Braithwaite, the accused.Braithwaite is facing a two-count indictment for attempted murder and felonious wounding of Safraz Ganni on October, 29 2012, at Durban Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown. He is accused of using a pitch-fork to carry out the attack on Ganni.
Lawyers for the prosecution, Mr. Michael Shahoud and Miss Narissa Leander told the jury that the prosecution’s case is based on an old feud between the parties.
The state hopes to call witnesses to prove that the accused on 29th October, 2012, wounded
Safraz Ganni with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm,and to maim, disfigure or disable him.
Dr. Fareez Khan of the Georgetown Hospital, who had examined the injured Safraz testified about the injuries he observed, some of which he opined would lead to disfigurement.
Witnesses testified that on the night of the incident, the injured man became unconscious and had to be taken to hospital.
The accused, it is said, was arrested on the scene by a police patrol.
The trial is continuing.
