POLICE yesterday suggested that a woman found with part of her tongue missing some two months ago may have been murdered. Megon Jones Cox, 60, was found around the Vreed-en-Hoop jetty area on July 22 last. Police recovered her battered body and she was admitted to the hospital where she died three days later.
Popularly known as Jean Bernard, she was identified only last Friday when her daughter visited the hospital to make enquiries.
Once she had been identified, a post- mortem was conducted and Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh on Friday revealed that the woman died from blunt trauma to the head along with multiple injuries about the body.
The sexagenarian of Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara, was popular and known throughout the village according to residents who attended her funeral yesterday at the Stanleytown Church Betezha, West Bank Demerara.
A man has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigation.
