ARMED bandits, early yesterday morning, invaded the home of Town Clerk Royston King carting off an undisclosed sum of cash and mobile phones before reportedly firing a shot at one of his sons.According to the Town Clerk, it is time that the Guyana Police Force receives the full cooperation from members of the public to take the fight to the criminals.
At approximately 02:15hrs yesterday, two armed men breached the security at King’s house making their way through a window and proceeded to rob the family.
The men who demanded cash and jewellery made good their escape but not before securing for themselves, two packs of M&M snacks.
King, during an interview with the Chronicle at City Hall, pointed out that immediately after the bandits left the area they called the police but that took some time as the ranks were having difficulty mobilising a patrol. King was robbed not too long after the shooting in Albouystown where the police had already concentrated a considerable amount of its resources.
Almost immediately, according to King, the family will be moving to heighten security at the premises. Asked if he thinks that there was something sinister about him being attacked and robbed, the Town Clerk did not confirm but would only say that the incident seems very strange. King was appointed Town Clerk after the former Acting Town Clerk Carol Sooba was sent on leave and then later had her services terminated.
