THE Ministry of Education Department of Sport/National Sport Commission yesterday handed over a number of trophies, equipment and funding to various associations and youth groups aimed at fostering sport development and enhancing youths. Speaking before handing over the various forms of support yesterday morning, Director of Sport Christopher Jones stated that the obvious needs of the people are what the NSC is striving to meet as best as possible.
He continued, “This is about a very small way for us now, showing our commitment to the development of sport and of course our young people. As you may know from the several persons gathered here today, there have been several requests of the National Sport Commission to assist various associations, young people participating in events.”
Brief remarks were made by the associations who collected their tokens as they thanked the commission for reaching out and supporting not only sport, but youth development.
They also called for the current courtesies given by the NSC to be extended to others, with Jones adding that the body is always open for proposals once it is in keeping with the development policy of the Government.
