Welch’s 30-point blitz leads Bulls past Falcons … A/Ward Jets down Kings 66-50

HALF-Mile Bulls shooting guard Terron Welch poured in a tournament-high 30 points, as his team Half Mile Bulls positioned themselves in a strong place to play in the semi-finals of the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) Under-23 championship. Welch and the Bulls picked up an emphatic win on Tuesday night at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court against Block 22 Flames, blowing them out 66-33.
In the Group B game the Amelia’s Ward Jets defeated the Kings 66-50. The Jets took control after being down 16-20 at the end of the first quarter and still trailed at halftime 25-26.
However, a brilliant turnaround was witnessed as the Jets bounced back to take control 42-34 after three quarters of play before rushing home winners 66-50.
Four players for the Jets were responsible for the comeback – Parrish Cadogan had 16 points, Adrian Webster and Keith Butters 11 each and Vibert Benjamin 10.
The Kings’ charge came from Quincy Easton with 19 game-high points, Ron Profit’s 13 and Ulric Benjamin’s 12.
