REGION 2 Chairman Devanand Ramdatt has said that the trail from Siriki New Havens Housing Scheme in the Upper Pomeroon River and Tapakuma [St Deny’s Amerindian community] will be upgraded to a roadway to open up hundreds of acres of virgin farmland.
The Chairman, addressing the Regional Democratic Council meeting yesterday in the boardroom at Anna Regina, said the road project is included in the region’s budget for 2016.
Former Toshoa of Tapakuma, Doreen Jacobis, who is currently a councillor of the RDC, said she is happy that the road project has been included in the budget.
According to the former Toshoa, the road between the two communities is very important because the land along both sides of the road will be cleared and cultivated.
She said it will bring about an increase in agricultural production and trade between the two villages.
