THE Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) said that their members are saddened by the passing of National U-19 player Dustin Crawford, after being hit by a hauler truck in Eccles, East Bank, Demerara last Wednesday.Crawford at the time was attending a tour of the Guyana Flour Mill, following the conclusion of the GRFU Summer Camp where he played an important role in helping the union spread the game of rugby.
“Dustin Crawford was an Under-19 player who, during his unfortunately short involvement with the rugby union, had not only made an indelible impression on his fellow colleagues but also to the sport in Guyana,” the GRFU said in a release.
The GRFU further noted that the rugby player no doubt had great potential to one day become a leading sportsman in Guyana and took the opportunity to express their condolences to the family, friends and teammates of Crawford.
President of the GRFU, Peter Green, along with other members, is expected to visit the family of Crawford tomorrow to discuss funeral arrangements and to see how the union can help.
