A TEAM from the International Children’s Heart Foundation (ICHF), commonly known as Baby Heart Foundation, is once again visiting Guyana to perform surgeries on young heart patients.

During their two-week (July 4- July 18) visit, the team is expected to operate on 15 patients at the Georgetown Public Hospital. Two surgeries were performed Monday and two more were expected to be done yesterday.
A team from the Foundation last visited Guyana back in May, when they performed a number of successful heart surgeries which came in for high praise from the hospital, the previous Administration and the families of patients.
This initiative will also eliminate the need for young heart patients to travel overseas to receive treatment, since the foundation is also providing training to medical professionals at the hospital, so the institution will eventually have the expertise to perform such surgeries on its own.
