A MAN and a woman were on Tuesday remanded to prison by city Magistrate Ann McLennan for allegedly having unlicensed ammunition in their possession. Winston Marshall, 29, of 86 First Street, Craig, East Bank Demerara, and Faith Fordyce, a mother of seven and a vendor of Lot 67 South Sophia , Greater Georgetown, denied the charge that read on Friday, June 26,2015, at South Sophia, Greater Georgetown, they had three .32 live rounds of ammunition in their possession.
Their attorney in a request for bail stated that the police pushed the door open to Fordyce’s home and proceeded to search in her presence. However, Marshall was not there. He argued that both of his clients were charged for possession of the ammunition.
Police Prosecutor Corporal Deniro Jones, told the court that there is no special reason given thus far by the defence why bail should be granted.Additionally, he cited the seriousness of the offence and the penalty attached to the charge.
Magistrate McLennan nevertheless overruled the prosecutor ‘s objection and released the duo on $115,000 each. They are expected back in court on Tuesday, July 21,2015.
