Narco trafficker gets two years, nine months

A DRUG trafficker of Lot 3029 North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was yesterday slapped with two years and nine months imprisonment by Magistrate Ann McLennan after being convicted for trafficking in cocaine and marijuana.Oswald Moses, 38, was found guilty after being on trial over the possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
The first charge said that on March 1, at Georgetown, he had in his possession 15 grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The other charge said that on March 3 at Leopold Street, also in the city, he had in his possession 232 grammes of marijuana.
He pleaded not guilty to both charges on his first appearance in court and was denied bail throughout his trial.
However, the court found that Moses had physical control of the prohibited drugs.
He was sentenced to two years, nine months on each charge but they will run concurrently. He was also fined $45,000 for the cocaine offence and $317,350 for the marijuana charge. (Geeta Rampersaud)
