POLICE report that at about 13:30 hrs on May 25 last, two male passengers of a minibus stopped the vehicle at Eccles, East Bank Demerara, held up the other occupants, and took away their jewellery and cash before escaping.

One of the bandits was armed with a handgun, but quick response by the police to the report of the incident led to the arrest of the two suspects in Agricola and the recovery of a gold chain that had been stolen.

The men are in police custody assisting with investigations.
