WHILE many of the able-bodied were up early in the morning to cast their ballots, a few who are physically challenged did not allow their limitation to keep them from voting.They too were up early in the morning, and with help from family members, they headed to the polling stations to exercise their franchise.

And like the others who waited patiently to vote, they did too, and showed no sign of tension at all.
Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) Mission Chief, Domingo Paredes, while commending the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) for holding a smooth election, said though many persons with disability voted yesterday, there was no special provision for them.
This, he said, is an issue the commission can look at in future elections. The 2015 Regional and General Elections, described as the ‘Mother of all Elections’, saw a larger turn out of voters compared to elections in previous years.
