RAMANDAN Persaud was Thursday fined $100,000 by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for forging a Guyana passport. It is alleged that Persaud between March 12-24,2015 at Georgetown, with intent to defraud, conspired with a person and persons unknown to forge a passport purporting to show that it was issued by the Central immigration Office, knowing same was false.
The man pleaded guilty to the charge, which would lessen his chances of a constitutional sentencing; however, failure to pay the fine will result in six months imprisonment.
