FIVE non-violent prisoners from the Georgetown and Timehri prisons were released from prison through the intervention of Food For The Poor (FFTP) on Monday 23rd March, 2015 in time to spend the Easter holidays with their families. The prisoners were informed of their release only on the said day and that FFTP had paid their fines and they emotionally expressed their appreciation and gratitude to FFTP Florida and Guyana for the kind gesture. Twice a year, during the Christmas and Easter seasons, FFTP facilitates the release non-violent prisoners who were incarcerated due to their inability to pay the requisite fines for committing minor offences.
