TWENTY-four-year-old Devon Pydanna, facing an allegation of dangerous driving that resulted in the deaths of three of his friends on the Golden Grove Public Road, West Coast Berbice on March 30 last, was refused bail and remanded to prison by Magistrate Rhondel Weaver at the Blairmont Court, West Bank Berbice.The defendant, of Lot 39 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, was not required to plead to the three counts of dangerous driving with which he has been charged. The accuracy of the information in the police file was sworn to by Lance Corporal Davindra Nagassar.

Particulars of the charges are that on March 30, 2015, at Golden Grove Public Road, West Coast Berbice, Pydanna drove motor car PRR 1163 in a manner dangerous to the public, thereby causing the deaths of Tommy Thomas, Jeron Gregory James and Andrew Doris.
The accident occurred just after midnight, while the now deceased persons were seated in the trunk of a white Toyota Raum which had a total of nine occupants.
Prior to that tragic incident, the group of friends had been observed at a bikini and ballerz pool party which was held at ‘The Pool’, in Angoy’s Avenue, on the eastern fringe of New Amsterdam. At just after midnight, the crew had been seen going to the Castle Club at Chapel Street, before leaving for the popular Te Amo night club at Onverwagt, West Coast Berbice.
They were reportedly hungry, and had left the night spot in search of food; and it was during their return trip that the driver allegedly lost control of the rented vehicle.
The three persons were confirmed dead at the Fort Wellington Hospital.
Pydana is expected to appear before the Fort Wellington Magistrate on April 22.
