VETERAN Deosarran ‘Double-Wrist’ Sookram, who placed second in the 0-9 handicap category in last year’s Sanjay’s Jewellery Classic which was played in October, emerged a clear winner in last Sunday’s exciting Sanjay’s Jewellery Golf tournament at the Lusignan Golf Course. Another veteran player Kalyan Tiwari, who placed third and had the Best Net and Nearest to the Pin in last October’s tournament, did better this time to place second to Deosarran.

The other winners from last year’s October and March, Sanjay’s-sponsored tournaments were not able to keep up with the performance of the players this year, as third place saw a new winner in ‘Pandit Ravi’ Persaud.
Chief Executive Officer of Sanjay’s Jewellery, Sanjay Persaud, whose business motto is ‘Creating Memories, One Piece at a Time’, expressed his continued willingness to support golf in Guyana and this time he even brought his brother along, who assisted with the distribution of prizes.
At the end of the day’s play, the winners and their handicaps and net scores were as follows: 1st Best Net, as well as Best Gross, Deosarran – 6/64; 2nd Kalyan 19/65; 3rd Rabindindranath ‘Pandit Ravi’ Persaud – 25/66. Nearest to The Pin was won by B. Harry.
