Brazilian businessman shot dead in Arau robbery

A Brazilian businessman was shot and killed on Saturday during an armed robbery at his place of business at Arau Landing, Wenamu River.He has been identified as Antonio De Sena, 59, who was killed by a gunman, who entered his business and held him up at gunpoint at about 20:00 hrs.

When the robber demanded gold and cash, De Sena resisted and was shot to his chest by the perpetrator who took away a sum of cash and escaped.

Investigations are in progress.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident at about 14:00 hrs on Saturday, the police conducted a search on a mining camp at Arau Landing, Wenamu River, during which an unlicensed Smith and Wesson .45 semi-automatic pistol and an unlicensed Smith and Wesson .38 revolver along with three rounds were found.

Four men were arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations.

In another incident, a search was mounted following a two-boat collision in the Pomeroon River for the body of Kelton Benjamin, who is missing and feared drowned.

Police reported that at about 19:00 hrs on Sunday two boats collided in the Pomeroon River, Essequibo, in the vicinity of Charity, and Kelton Benjamin, 2, of Coffee Grove, Essequibo Coast, is missing and feared drowned.
