Working parents were also seen with their children picking out some traditional and non-traditional kites. Speaking with one kite-maker, John (only name given), he explained that many persons prefer the non-traditional kites because it’s easier to assemble and no extra work needs to be done on these.
Aunty Baby, from Kitty Market, said that she is waiting to pack up because today she is going out with her grandchildren to fly kite. She noted that Easter these days is nothing like the Easter of yesteryear. “When I was small, we use to make we own kites; now dem children buying readymade kite.”
This newspaper also visited some supermarkets to get a few comments on preparations for the Easter picnics. Some persons said that they were getting a few items to take with them to the ‘Creek’, while others are looking forward to be in the National Park for their traditional kite flying activities.
