Vagrant remanded for million-dollar house robbery

CHIEF Magistrate Priya-Sewnarine- Beharry yesterday refused to grant a vagrant, Latchman Sookan, bail on a break and enter and larceny charge to which he pleaded not guilty.The allegation against him is that, between February 26 and March 5, at Gordon Street Albouystown, Georgetown, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Eldon Sewnarine and stole a quantity of clothing and cutlery, a water pump and a gas bottle, amongst other items to the value of over $1M.

The unrepresented man was remanded to prison on ground that he has no fixed place of abode, but the matter was transferred before Magistrate Dylon Bess for March 30.
