Eastman to defend CIDI Thrill Beverage 35-lap cycle race title on Saturday

TEAM COCO’S Hamzah Eastman will be out to defend his Caribbean International Distributors Inc. (CIDI) 35-lap cycle race title on Saturday, when national cycle coach Hassan Mohamed stages the second Annual CIDI 11-race cycle programme around the inner circuit of the National Park from 09:00hrs.Last year when the company came on board, Eastman clocked 1h.18mins:03secs in carting off top honours and fresh from his victory in the first stage of the Dr Cheddi Jagan Memorial Three-Stage cycle road race last Sunday, he will be brimming with confidence going into Saturday’s feature 35-lap event.

He will however have to be very mindful of Team Evolution’s Michael Anthony, Marlon `Fishy’ Williams and Orville Hinds as well as Raynauth Jeffrey and Paul DeNobrega, all of whom have been showing good form since the 2015 cycle season started.
Anthony won last year’s juveniles’ 10-lap category, but is no longer a juvenile cyclist, so this paves the way for a new winner to be crowned.
Junior Niles, the winner of last year’s veterans’ Under-50 five-lap race will have his work cut out if he is to make a successful defence of that title since Linden Blackman and Ian `Dumb Boy’ Jackson seem to be coming into form.
Clyde Jacobs will be seeking to make a successful defence of the mountain bikers’ five-lap race and will have an uphill task on his hands. Other races planned for the day include two and three-lap races for BMX boys and girls as well as a five-lap race for veterans over 60 years of age.
