THE Ministry of Health’s Mashramani band, called the “Wellness Warriors”, unleashed on February 17, plans taking the road by storm on today.Speaking at the band’s official launch at the Health Ministry’s Brickdam Office, Dr Bheri Ramsaran related that the Ministry of Health is promoting the concept of healthy living habits through the band’s costumes.

“It’s part of our mandate here at the Ministry to fight against all the diseases and to also be rid of them”, Minister Dr Ramsaran explained.

He encouraged persons to live healthier lifestyles by including in their diets the right types of foods. “Do like my Wellness Warriors and shield yourself against all diseases,” the Minister advised. He also urged persons to come on board and party with the band today.

Costume designer, Ms. Fraser explained the reason behind choosing the name ‘Wellness Warriors’, and profusely thanked the Ministry for affording her the opportunity yet again to design its costumes.

She related that the use of the jaguar is because the animal represents strength and intelligence; and the shield the warriors carry will ward off deadly diseases. The fruits on the shield express the way to eat and make oneself healthy, she noted.
