JUSTICE James Bovell-Drakes and a mixed jury trying murder accused Edward Skeete, called ‘Batty Boy’, visited the locus-in-quo (scene of the crime) at Crown Dam, Industry, East Coast Demerara where Skeete is alleged to have shot Bede Ramjewan to death during a robbery in 2011.

The 40-year-old businessman was shot in the chest, and beaten in the head with a helmet, after he was cornered near his home by two men on a motorcycle. Ramjewan had left a commercial bank in the city, moments before the incident occurred.

Represented by Attorney-at-law Mr. Nigel Hughes, Skeete has pleaded not guilty to the offence of murder, which is alleged to have been committed at Crown Dam, Industry on April 27th, 2011.

State Counsel Miss Natasha Backer, in association with lawyer Miss Narissa Leander, is conducting the case for the prosecution.

Justice Bovell-Drakes will sum up the evidence to the jury on Wednesday, February 25, following which he will hand over the case to them for their consideration and verdict.
