POLICE have arrested a suspect over the execution-style murder of businesswoman Patricia Sanasie who was gunned down in front her home in the presence of her daughter two weeks ago.According to information reaching the Guyana Chronicle, the suspect is no stranger on the police radar and he is being questioned based on what eyewitnesses have told the police.And investigators seem confident that they have the shooter as the man who is in custody fits the description given to the police by eyewitnesses.
Some years ago the man who is now being held was a person of interest and a known character who provided bodyguard services to persons suspected of having connections to the drug underworld.
Police sources have indicated that the man now seems to be operating on his own as a hired gun.
Patricia Sanasie was killed just under a year after her husband who survived an execution attempt accused her of ordering the hit on him. The husband who was out of the country at the time of her death has since denied any involvement in his wife’s murder.
On the night the woman was killed she had just exited her vehicle and was preparing to open her gate when a man walked up to her and shot her. Police sources had indicated to this publication that the woman’s killer meant business and were out to ensure that she did not survive the attack.
This conclusion was arrived at given the parts of her body that the gunman concentrated his fire. The woman’s family took a decision to have her cremated in the United States as they were reportedly afraid of traveling to Guyana to bury her.
There were also claims that while the woman’s relatives were afraid of her husband and his connections, the man and his family also feared that the woman’s family would retaliate because of her murder.
