TWENTY- two-year-old Shazim Kahli has been charged with the unlawful killing of his teenaged girlfriend who had reportedly jilted him.The youth appeared before Magistrate Rhondel Weaver at the Blairmont Court, where he was not required to plead to the indictable charge, which stated that on January 17, last he murdered Shazien Mohamed.

The unrepresented youth who confessed to the police of his involvement in the crime, said he did so as he had withdrawn large sums of money to meet the demands of the lass, who chose someone over him.
On Saturday, January 17, the 19 year old left her home at Edinburgh Village, East Bank Berbice, to go to Rosignol to uplift a phone which was being repaired.
A friend Mitra Sukdeo of Rosignol was in the teen’s company when the suspect confronted them over a relationship, which the witness denied.
Sukdeo had earlier accompanied the former Vryman’s Erven student to uplift her mobile phone, and in doing so he had asked his younger sister to accompany him.
The witness said he was talking to Mohamed outside of the Yang Yi Restaurant along the Rosignol Public Road, after purchasing a serving of food for his sibling, who was seated within the eating house.
“My sister called me, saying the food was too much for her. I made a few steps, then I heard a scream. As I turned around I saw her holding her abdomen. She was screaming as blood flowed… I saw the suspect run away….”
Sukdeo claimed to have known Mohamed for just three months.
Meanwhile, the teen’s father Shazim Mohamed said after he received a telephone call, he went to the New Amsterdam Hospital, where he saw medical personnel attending to his daughter in the Accident and Emergency Unit.
He was in a total shock when he was informed of his daughter’s demise..
“I did not know it was so serious. I never knew my daughter would have died.”
Meanwhile, Shazim Kahli is to return to court on February 17, for report.
