J’s Supermarket trio on simple larceny charge

THREE employees of the popular J’s Supermarket of Strand, New Amsterdam, were charged indictably with simple larceny, following their appearance before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs Marcus at the New Amsterdam Court on Friday. They were each granted $75,000 bail and are expected to return to Court on February 6 for report.

The trio, Shanele Simon, 38, a supervisor and a single mother of two, of 1 Reliance Settlement; Alex Beharry, 25, a father of one of 22 Cumberland Village and Kevin Ramesh, 20, a cashier assistant of 20 Bones Bush Dam, all East Canje locations, were not required to plead to the joint indictable charge instituted by Detective Constable Eustace Lynch .
Particulars of the charge stated that between January 6 and 9, at Strand New Amsterdam, Simon, Beharry and Ramesh stole 5 Hamilton Beach Blenders [$54,975], 3 Hamilton Beach Toasters [$17,985], 2 Con Air Curling Irons [$9000], 13 bags Fonterra Milk Powder[$325,000], 6 Home Basic Pot Sets [ $23,970], 11 cases Ensure

Nutritional drink [$93,000], 3 cases Pediasure Nutritional drink [$31,500] 5 cases Danish Cookies [$50,000], 7 cases XL energy drink [$26,600], 3 cases Red Bull energy drink [$23,400], 4 cases Red Strong Shake [$20,000], 2 GE Microwaves [$56,000],6 cases UNOLI Soyabean Oil [ $45,600], 48 cases Ponds cream {$66,900] 24 cases AXE Deodorant [$98,400] 4 cases Evaporated milk [$18,000], 18 cases BRUT deodorant [$28,500] 18 cases of Haiku perfume {$35,910], et al totalling $1,161,875, property of Ramanand Shirpaul called Raymond.

the Reliance and Central Police Stations.
“They were subsequently ordered to report on their own to Central Police Station, and they did so… that would give reason for them not to run away, but would instead attend court hearings. I ask for reasonable bail, Your Worship”.
In the meanwhile, following the prompting of the Attorney at Law, the defendant Kevin Ramesh recounted to the court an encounter with his boss which led to the trio being charged.
