THOUSANDS of Onderneeming residents of La Parfaite-Harmonie, West Bank Demerara are slated to benefit from the services of the Akshaar Dhaam Ashram that will be constructed in the near future.

First Lady Deolatchmee Ramotar performed the ‘puja’ (a Hindu religious ceremony) to bless the construction site and rid it of all evils and obstacles that would hamper construction of the mandir.

During the ceremony the officiating Swami (priest) explained that the mandir will offer not only religious blessing in the form of ceremonies, but will also offer educational and recreational services to the community.
He also noted that the residents will benefit from the presence of the ashram, and it is therefore expected that they would assist in delivering the services being offered.
President Donald Ramotar congratulated the organisers and residents for undertaking this venture and noted that this project will benefit many persons. He explained that initiatives like these help to develop a country and bring its people together.
The Head of State repeated the need for the construction of the Amaila Falls Hydroelectricity Project, reiterating that it would benefit all Guyanese. He alluded to the fact that, only a few days ago, he had signed with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) the contract that would enable electricity to be provided in Recht-Door-Zee Phase II scheme. The President assured residents that works in this regard would begin on January 19 and are scheduled to be completed by the end of February 2015.
Legal Affairs Minister Anil Nandlall also attended the religious ceremony, as did other religious and diplomatic personnel and members of the East Coast mandirs.
