Gladwin Samuels now Senior Superintendent of Prisons –Compton Sparman is GFC Divisional Officer

SEVERAL approvals have been granted for substantive appointments in the Guyana Prison Service which took effect from December 3, 2014, according to a press release from the Ministry of Home Affairs last Thursday. Approved were Gladwin Samuels, Superintendent of Prisons, who now fills the position of Senior Superintendent of Prisons; Nicklon Elliot, Kevin Pilgrim, Richard Brown, Alexander Hopkinson and Evelyn Crandon, all of whom were previously Assistant Superintendents of Prisons and have been promoted to Superintendents of Prisons.

Cadet Officers Carlton Cameron, Deoraj Gyandat, Mark Smith, Kelvin Hutson and Kofi David were all approved as Assistant Superintendents of Prisons. Principal Officers 11 Seon Charles, Raymond Bagot, Christine George, Marvin Azore, Kirk Joseph, Desmond Darlington, Peter Barker, Patrick Crawford, Beverly Critchlow, Ossie Harper-Nurse and Michelle Baynes are now filling the position of Chief Prison Officer.

Prison Trade Instructor, Ann Cornette along with Principal Officers 1 Ms. Paula Grahame, Maxine Mourant, Joylyn Young-Scott, Lionel Cave, Prince Cox, Orin Halley and Suana Cambridge-Eastman were all confirmed as Principal Officer 11.

Appointed as Principal Officer 1 were former Principal Officers Dazley Grandison, Gershwyn Gordon, Roger Dublin, Michelle Eversley, Yolanda Persaud, Troy Rodney, Jacqueline Henry, David Dias, Marcia Collier, Joel Campbell and Shelly Oxford

Newly-appointed Prison Trade Instructors are Justin Eastman, Frank La Rose and Erwin Mentore, who were all former Principal Officers.

GUYANA FIRE SERVICE
With regards to the appointments in the Guyana Fire Service, the newly-appointed Divisional Officer is former Station Officer Compton Sparman. Former Sub-Officers Debbie Stephenson, Aubrey Hardy and Everard Harding were all approved as Station Officers.

The appointments of Sub Officers include Section Leaders Ezla Bynoe, Dehola Jacobs, Tricia Lawrence, Shannon Crawford, Fitzroy Sutton and Courtney Springer.

Leading Firemen Michael Davidson, Delbert Pitt and Ryburn Williams were all approved as Section Leaders. Taking up the position of Leading Firemen were Fireman 1272 Gillard Hope, Fireman 1288 Surain Samaroo, Fireman 1293 Sunil Persaud and Fireman 1284 Marvin Watts. Leading Firewomen were announced as Firewoman 108 Melissa Belle and Firewoman 109 Franka Thomas. (Ravin Singh)
