…exhibits at City Centre offer a glimpse of what the festival is all about

FIRST Lady Deolatchmee Ramotar yesterday cut the ribbon to declare the Diwali Nagar open at The City Centre,Water Street.
Owner of The City Centre, Mr. Pradeep Samtani, brought about the Diwali Nagar to give the Guyanese public a glimpse of what Diwali is all about.
The Nagar features various Indian religious artifacts, food and other accessories which depict the culture of India.
Upon her arrival at the City Centre, Mrs. Ramotar was greeted by Mr. Samtani and employees of the store.
She then cut the ribbon and lit the first diya before being taken on a tour of the exhibition by Mr. Santami.
Mrs. Ramotar , during the tour, also got a chance to sample the new Ashoka Indian cuisine which will soon be marketed in Guyana.
Mrs. Ramotar stated that she does not know much about food from India, other than those that are popular in Guyana, but from what she tasted, she
described the Ashoka menu as very delicious.

She observed that the food is said to be healthy, and she encouraged all Guyanese citizens to come out and try it.
The Diwali Nagar, housed at the back of the City Centre building, on Water Street, will run until October 31.
Mr. Samtani added that this is just the beginning of such events, and there will be similar activities for every season and holiday that Guyana has, so that the various ethnic groups can learn about each other’s culture,
For instance, there will be a mini Christmas Exhibition after the Diwali Nagar, after which they will begin preparations for a Mashramani Exhibition, and so on.
He also stated that his business will be partnering with Continental Foods Incorporated to bring the Ashoka Indian cuisine products.
Mr. Samtani noted that the products are 100% vegetarian and they will soon be found in supermarkets countrywide.
