I HASTEN to pay tribute to the late Mr. Joseph Bacchus of 22 Trotman Alley, Wismar-Christianburg in the town of Linden, Demerara, who died on the 30th September, 2014.

He was leader of the National Democratic Front, a political party which played a significant role in the struggle for the consolidation of democracy and the role of free and fair elections.
As leader of the National Democratic Front, his party was a member of the Patriotic Coalition for Democracy (PCD) which spearheaded the change in election procedures of Guyana by championing the system of counting ballots at the place of poll.
His political party – NDF was one of the founding parties in the formation of APNU.
Mr. Bacchus played a major part in the political struggles for the masses during the 1960’s and faced many challenges.
May his soul rest in eternal peace!
