Pedestrian killed crossing road at Waller’s Delight

POLICE are investigating the fatal accident which occurred at about 09:00 hours Wednesday at Waller’s Delight Public Road, West Coast Demerara, which resulted in the death of pedestrian Simon Bachu, of the same village. 

Investigations revealed that the pedestrian ran over the road and was struck down by a motor vehicle. He was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver is in police custody assisting with the investigations.

ARMED ROBBERY 
In a separate incident, Anil Kumar called ‘Black Shirt’, 42, of No. 62 Village Squatting Area, Corentyne and Satesh Jainauth, 18, of No. 55 Village Squatting Area, Corentyne, were charged on September 23 with robbery under arms.

The men allegedly robbed Dalchand Rampersaud, 34, and Alexis Isaacs, 33, both of 147 No. 60 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, at No. 60 Village, Corentyne on August 26, 2014.

The duo appeared at the Whim Magistrate’s Court on September 23, 2014, before Magistrate Ravindra Singh and were remanded to prison until October 01.
