CHIEF Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Tuesday remanded the unrepresented 25-year-old Ricky Singh (no address given) to prison for unlawful possession of a firearm.
Singh pleaded not guilty to the charge which detailed that, on September 7, on the Avenue of the Republic in Georgetown, he had in his possession one 9 mm pistol without being the holder of a firearm licence.
Police Prosecutor Michael Grant successfully opposed bail on the grounds of the nature, seriousness and prevalence of the offence.
The defendant will next appear in court on September 22.
