Chief Justice grants eight petitioners $2M bail

EIGHT petitioners who had been refused bail by magistrates were yesterday granted bail by acting Chief Justice Ian Chang, SC, in the sum of $2,000,000, pending the hearing and determination of their cases.

Particulars are as follows: For possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, Beesham Rooplall was placed on $125,000 bail.

For possession of firearm and ammunition, Earl Nieuenkerk was placed on $350,000 bail, and Malvand Marshall was placed on $250,000 bail.

For attempting to commit murder, Rawle Glasgow was placed on $400,000 bail.

For setting fire to a dwelling house, R. Glasgow was placed on $200,000 bail.

For causing death by dangerous driving, Roopnarine Somwaru was placed on $400,000 bail.

For robbery under arms, Syon Robertson was placed on $100,000 bail.

And for break & enter and larceny, Jermaine Josiah was placed on $175,000 bail.
