DURING their regular patrol duties in the mining town of Linden, police on a mobile patrol observed that a resident who was walking along the roadway was acting in a suspicious manner.The Linden resident was seen with a haversack and the police decided to carry out a stop and search exercise on the man along Nottinghamshire Road, Linden.
The search revealed that the man had concealed in the haversack a quantity of seeds, leaves and stems suspected to be cannabis sativa.
The suspect was escorted to the Mackenzie Police Station where the substance was tested and confirmed to be cannabis. It was also weighed and sealed in his presence after amounting to 460 grammes. He was taken into police custody and was expected to appear in court yesterday on a drug trafficking charge.
