–as victim refuses to testify

ROY Willams, another alleged sex offender, was freed yesterday when the victim appeared before the jury and testified that she does not wish to testify against the accused.As a consequence of her action, Justice James Bovell-Drakes directed the jury that was empanelled to try the case to return a formal verdict of not guilty in favour of the accused.

The accused, charged jointly with (i) incest and (ii) carnal knowledge, was consequently discharged.

The offences were said to have been committed between February 17 and 18, 2005.
