THE Digicel-sponsored Guyana Squash Association’s (GSA) National Seniors Squash Championships will serve off this evening at the Georgetown Club at 18:00hrs.

The tournament which will see action in four categories – Men’s and Women’s Open, Men’s Veterans Over-50 and for the first time Men’s 35-49 – will conclude on July 6.
Defending champion Alex Arjoon is expected to be fully tested with the inclusion in the draw of overseas-based former Caribbean champion Richard Chin and locals Jason Ray Khalil, Regan Pollard, Nyron Joseph and Ben Mekdeci.
On the distaff side, Caribbean champion Nicolette Fernandes is unable to defend her crown due to overseas commitments, so Mary Fung-A-Fat is tipped to capture her first senior national title.
Fung-A-Fat will, however, have competition from Ashley DeGroot, Victoria Arjoon, Akeila Wiltshire and Kathy Shuffler.
Alwyn Callender is the number one contender for the Veterans Men’s Over-50 title and Jo Mekdeci is the number one seed for the Men’s 35-49 category.
Action starts with the Veterans and Men’s Open this evening and continues daily from 18:00hrs with the finals scheduled for Sunday, beginning at 11.00hrs.
